Mintel is an international leader in providing consumer market research and competitive intelligence tools as well as in delivering customized consulting solutions to top-tier organizations.  With group headquarters in the UK and US headquarters in Chicago, Mintel has been a market leader for forty years.  As a result of consistent year over year growth and significant future market opportunity, we now seek a Legal Assistant to join the Legal Department in Chicago to work on projects both domestic and foreign.

This position contributes to our success by fulfilling the roles of administrator and processor.  As an administrator, you will win the confidence of colleagues with competent management of databases for contracts, real estate leases, and copyrights and with your timely, regular reporting from those information troves.  As a processor, you will relish the detail in and production of your timely written work and satisfy your conscientious bent by making and implementing process-improvements based on best-practice, research, and analysis.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Maintain databases of contracts, real estate leases, and copyrights, and prepare and timely distribute reports
  • Prepare and submit corporate annual reports; maintain business licenses and certificates of insurance
  • Prepare, review, and process legal documents, including order forms, standard terms and conditions, NDAs, GDPR addenda, and contract amendments, within defined parameters
  • Implement language changes across legal forms cache
  • Communicate with various intra-company departments and external contacts (including customer procurement and legal counsel) to clarify and resolve contract issues
  • Perform research projects associated with commercial arrangements and intellectual property
  • Coach paralegal intern

What We Are Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree with strong academic record
  • Paralegal certificate from ABA accredited program preferred
  • Works well in document intensive and time sensitive environment
  • Collaborative, but works well independently and with limited supervision
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, and exemplary work ethic
  • Relevant experience in a corporate legal department or law firm setting a plus
  • Experience with market research, e-commerce, or intellectual property a plus
  • MS Office skills (Word and Excel required; PowerPoint a plus)
