Mintel is in search of an experienced research and market analyst with e-commerce expertise to join the Reports team. This expert will apply his/her extensive consumer and market research knowledge and critical thinking to develop quantitative and qualitative research plans, analyze consumer and market data, and write insightful syndicated research reports.

The Senior e-Commerce Analyst will have in-depth knowledge of retail trends, shopper behavior, and disruptions impacting the industry. This position works as part of a team of Analysts, sharing ideas and insight, while taking ownership of the online and digital retail space. You will work closely with clients, helping them to capitalize on the ever-changing retail landscape.

 

What You Will Do:

Insight generation and analysis:

  • Create insightful, relevant syndicated analysis of the retail industry, with a focus on e-commerce topics and key industry issues
  • Evaluate industry trends in the context of economic, consumer, and social trends
  • Develop quantitative consumer surveys and qualitative exercises (e.g. discussion panels, shopping missions, etc.) to meet research objectives
  • Turn consumer research findings, market data and industry knowledge into actionable insights, providing critical thinking, insight and forward looking statements that impact our readers’ business/careers
  • Employ a wide range of research tools, including primary and secondary sources, including Mintel’s direct marketing database, alongside consumer research

Relationship building:

  • Provide insight directly to clients around key market and consumer trends, innovations and industry development, in-person, via phone and through webinars
  • Interact with a wide variety of clients ranging from small marketing agencies to multi-national corporations and industry players
  • Work collaboratively across teams and across functions within the organization
  • Manage all aspects of survey projects, including working with our research vendor on fielding quantitative and qualitative research (field coordination, survey programming, quality control, data processing and delivery)

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Superior knowledge of the retail industry, shopper behavior and path to purchase
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a relevant research, marketing, shopper or consumer insights, branding or consulting role dedicated to retail/ecommerce
  • Commercially driven with a talent for seeing the patterns behind data, and understanding what these patterns mean from a business standpoint.
  • Experience with various qualitative and quantitative research methods, experience working with survey panels preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and in a team environment, in an atmosphere of multiple projects, shifting priorities, and deadline pressures
  • Self-motivated, curious, creative, ability to think strategically, while following set processes with strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional communication skills, written and oral
  • Demonstrated presentation skills for large audiences and individual clients
  • Adept at developing trusted relationships
  • Experience working with syndicated consumer research such as Simmons National Consumer Survey
  • Ability to travel up to 5-10% of the time
  • Expertise working in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
