Mintel is looking for a creative, digitally savvy, forward-looking Senior Trends Analyst. This person is a strong writer and data analyzer who will live and breathe consumer trends, have a clear understanding of how society, culture, lifestyles and brand activity is developing across North America. This Analyst is a trendspotter -- finger on the pulse, voracious consumer of information -- who can take in Mintel’s suite of expert market research and regularly identify and report on new and exciting trends in the marketplace.

They will be responsible for spotting and writing about intriguing innovations from across the North America. These “Trend Observations” are used to inspire new product and campaign development in line with consumer trends. They will be able to observe brand and consumer activity from a wide range of categories to create compelling stories of how broader consumer trends are evolving and be able to create content which excites and inspires audiences with the latest trend thinking. They will form a crucial part of the global Trends team, ensuring insights delivered can be applied by our clients in their business.

 

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Create Trend Observations which features thought-provoking content on consumer trends
  • Work with research analysts to ensure Mintel’s trends are compelling, useful and applicable to a range of categories and demographics
  • Guide our Trends Analyst and edit and publish their content
  • Oversee the application of Mintel’s global trends to North America
  • Guide clients in their understanding of how global consumer trends impact their business
  • Deliver presentations of Mintel’s trends and insights at client strategic meeting sessions / trade shows / internal and external forums / journalist events

What We Are Looking For:

  • 5+ years of previous experience within a Trends/Insights/Planning/Innovation/Journalism role within an agency or on the client side
  • Ability to identify the patterns in data, and understand what these patterns mean for consumers and brands
  • Lateral thinking is critical, being able to spot innovations from a wide range of sectors to see how broader trends and themes are emerging
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Ability to apply insights to a range of different categories
  • Ability to talk knowledgeably and confidently with our clients and at industry events about your area of expertise
  • Inquisitive by nature and hungry to find out what’s next
