We are in search of an experienced research analyst with expertise in evaluating the consumer electronics and technology products/services market to create forward-looking, comprehensive, syndicated market reports to help our clients grow their business.

What You Will Do:

  • Write 10 reports a year covering technology and CEs identifying the key issues in the market with insightful, relevant analysis of the topic that includes consumer, industry, and marketing strategy insights and perspective
  • Use a wide range of tools to develop the research story, including primary and secondary sources, including Mintel’s direct marketing database, alongside consumer research
  • Develop quantitative and qualitative consumer surveys, turning consumer research findings, market data, and industry knowledge into actionable insights, providing critical thinking to impact our clients’ business
  • Build relationships with industry contacts to understand the key issues influencing consumers, innovation, and company strategy
  • Most of the day-to-day work will involve business writing as the analyst is responsible for the full report from defining the report scope, identifying key issues, designing consumer research, conducting trade interviews, analyzing data through to producing the final report

Communication with colleagues, external clients (including interviews and presentations) is also an essential part of this role. The Technology Analyst works as part of a team of Analysts, sharing ideas and insight, while taking ownership of the technology and consumer electronics sector with the objective of writing insightful and authoritative analysis on a number of technology/CE categories including: devices, service providers, and emerging technologies. To do so, qualified candidates shall possess a blend of:

  • Knowledge of key companies/ brands in CE and telecomm – products, initiatives, challenges, and developments
  • Knowledge of “smart” technology trends and a perspective of the impact of IoT on consumer behavior
  • Understanding of consumer use of technology and digital behaviors via consumer research.

What We Are Looking For:

  • At least 3 years of experience gained from working in, with, or writing about technology/CEs
  • Knowledge of technology industry trends, key players, and disruptions having an impact
  • Aptitude/experience with developing research objectives and designing consumer research to meet objectives
  • Strong understanding of consumer research data
  • A talent for seeing the patterns behind data, and communicating what these mean from a business standpoint
  • Ability to analyze multiple data sets and write bold, concise, insightful, forward-looking analysis
  • Ability to interact and engage with clients

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Passion for and knowledge of the technology consumer market (by passion we mean interest in what’s happening in the market through daily observation, and the patience to study deep into a subject)
  • Experience in consumer research (designing questionnaires, understanding sampling methodology, confidence intervals, consumer segmentation, etc.)
  • Business acumen, strong analytical skills and comfort working with, interpreting and analyzing data
  • Exceptional organizational and planning skills to meet deadlines
  • Exceptional business writing and oral communication skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
